SAN JOSÉ, CA - San José Mayor Matt Mahan, Councilmember David Cohen (D4), San José City Manager Jennifer Maguire, and Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), will break ground on the City’s newest interim housing community at the Cerone Yard. The project — made possible by a unanimous vote of the VTA Board last year — will transform an empty section of the VTA-owned lot into a 200-unit tiny home community to help move unhoused residents off the streets and into safer, more stable environments. This effort, funded in part by Governor Newsom’s pledge to deploy 1,200 tiny homes across the state, marks a major step forward in the City’s ongoing work to expand shelter capacity while addressing neighborhood concerns and public safety.
