SAN JOSÉ, CA - Mayor Matt Mahan, alongside Vice Mayor Pam Foley and representation from both police and fire unions, as well as community members affected by the conditions in city streets and along waterways, will share their thoughts on a core piece of the Mayor’s June Budget Message – the Responsibility to Shelter initiative.
Leaders within the Police and Fire department will discuss the strain on emergency response resources, small business leaders will share stories of the impact on business districts, an advocate and formerly homeless person will share the need for accountability when it comes to recovery, and a mother will share the need to intervene early, before families become the victims of the crisis on our streets.
The June Message, which includes other important initiatives like the push to tie pay to performance for elected officials and continued investments made in interim housing, will be released later today.
