SAN JOSÉ, CA - Mayor Matt Mahan, Councilmember Carl Salas and a local business owner will preview a proposal going before the City Council later in the day to create new Entertainment Zones across Downtown San José. If approved, these zones would streamline permitting for live music, outdoor dining, special events, and other activities — making it easier to bring vibrancy and foot traffic to key commercial areas across the city. Having recently drawn headline acts like Fisher and Steve Aoki, designated entertainment zones would make it even easier for organizers to attract top talent, boost local business, and turn San José into a premier destination for nightlife and live events.

City officials and community leaders will discuss how these zones could help support small businesses, increase downtown programming, and enhance quality of life for residents.
