SAN JOSÉ, CA - San José Mayor Matt Mahan and Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) will join Nokia to celebrate a major expansion of the company’s local manufacturing capabilities. The currently under-construction photonic semiconductor fab — funded in part through federal incentives secured by Congressman Panetta — brings up to 200 manufacturing jobs and hundreds of construction jobs, with local hiring supported through partnerships with community colleges. The photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technology from this semiconductor manufacturing facility powers global data networks and AI infrastructure, reinforcing San Jose’s role as the Capital of Silicon Valley.
